This is a thesis preparation course which includes finding a thesis mentor, and begin the drafting of any thesis proposal or other-research related materials such as an IRB proposal. With your advisor you should make up a schedule for doing research, writing drafts of chapters, rewriting, and finalizing parts of the thesis, so that you don’t end up having a rush of work to do at the end of your senior year. Timing of specific thesis progress reports is at the discretion of the student’s advisor and the student’s Honors Thesis Committee, and should be consistent with the approved thesis proposal, as described above. In addition, you must upload one copy of the defended and corrected thesis to Scholarworks by that date. Some students may be able to take their required research course, listed above, during the sophomore year in order to enable them to study abroad. Depending on the major course of study, CNHS students may find mentors during the sophomore year or the beginning of the junior year.
