Bio I graduated from University of Mumbai with a degree in Biotechnology where my interest in biology and research developed. The group teaches in all programs of the Department, focusing on health policy, critical management studies, and qualitative research methods. After some experiences with a local Indianapolis paper and some introductory scientific material, I attended Purdue University where I pursued a degree in biology with a minor in Spanish. In a previous study, we identified a new mechanism by which NF-kB activity is regulated by an epigenetic enzyme known as protein arginine mastfr 5 PRMT5.
We showed that overexpression of PRMT5 not only activated NF-kB, but also significantly promoted several characteristics associated with cancer, including increased cell proliferation, migration, and the ability to form colonies in thwsis agar in both CRC and PDAC cells. I got the opportunity to move to the United States masher pursue my MS in Cell and Molecular Biology where I was fascinated with solving complex biological problems, and led to me to my current position as a PhD student at Indiana University School of Medicine.
